Our students at Cardinal Newman are at the forefront of computer networking and Information Technology education in the world. As part of the Global Cisco Academy , Cardinal Newman is offering courses that will enhance our students opportunities as the next wave of technology approaches.

A revised COMPUTER ENGINEERING course (TEE201) is being offered at Cardinal Newman (Cisco Networking Academy). This offers students more complete training on how to design, build and maintain computers and Internet networks. IMAC and an introduction to MS VISTA have recently been added.

These courses, which feature a high level of hands-on, practical experience to give students real skills in computer networking, include the following:

TEE2O1 (Grade 10) I.T. Information Technology provides PC hardware and software skills linked to network operating systems.

ICE3M1 (Grade 11) CCNA Part 1, Introduction to Networks

ICE4M1 (Grade 12) CCNA Part 2, Networking

All courses in the Cisco Networking Academy Program have been developed by education and networking specialists, and prepare students for world-wide industry recognised certifications such as the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), SUN’s professional certifications and those offered by CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) such as the Network+ certification. These courses may be used at the post-secondary level, as part of the students program. Cardinal Newman ( with Cisco) has developed an e-learning infrastructure to deliver interactive media to our students. More than a virtual or on-line course, the Cardinal Newman Academy has equipment for hands-on practice and certified instructors who provide guidance and support.

Congratulations to the January 2008 ICE3M1 class , we had EIGHT students earn a Letter of Commendation for achieving over 80% in the On-line final examination. They were Steven Bennet, Nick Bilic, Thomas Fischer, Christian Gauger-Cosgrove, David Porebski, Andrew Rossignol, Eric Summers and Carson Tarbutt.

Job opportunities for I.T. & Networking qualified graduates is growing rapidly.
