EPSILON 30 Years in the
Making
The Yearbook Committee would like to wish
Newman a Happy 30th Anniversary with the release of the 30th edition
of the Epsilon. The 2004-05 yearbook commemorates Newmans
spirit and achievement in the arts, athletics, clubs, committees, and
student life over the course of the year while incorporating some
facts about Newmans history. Be sure to check out the latest
edition! NEWMAN POPS INTO PITTSBURGH
The Yearbook committee is currently working
on the 2005-06 edition of the Epsilon; this yearbooks theme is
POP ART based on the visual imagery and graphic design of
the famous 20th century artist Andy Warhol. He is known for the
expression, everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame,
as well as his portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and
Campbells Soup Cans.
The dedicated and hard-working Yearbook
Committee travelled to Pittsburgh, USA in early December with senior
Art, and Communications Technology classes, to study Warhols
art and graphic style first-hand at the Andy Warhol Museum which is
one of the premiere Carnegie Museums.
We are also planning to offer
Yearbook as a course next year, so students currently in
grades 10, 11, or 12 may consider taking it to learn more about
photojournalism and graphic design! ... Mrs. C. Penich (Yearbook

EPSILON RECEIVES A FIRST PLACE
HONOUR!
The Cardinal Newman Yearbook Committee is
pleased to announce that once again, our Yearbook the 30th
Anniversary Edition of the Epsilon 2004-05 has received a FIRST
PLACE rating from the Canadian Yearbook Review. The CYR is the
governing body in Canada that judges yearbooks across the nation in
the categories of photography (both technical and artistic),
journalism, and graphic design. We cant wait until they see the
book we are currently working on Fifteen Minutes of Fame
2005-06 - and we cant wait to share it with the rest of the
school in the Fall. Since our trip to Pittsburgh last December to
study at the Andy Warhol Museum, we have incorporated our theme of
Pop Art in exciting and creative ways! We also look forward to
offering Yearbook as a course next year which will
provide us with an opportunity to delve deeper into photography,
journalism, and graphic design.
